Advisory Services LLC

Taconic Advisory Services LLC provides consulting services to firms at the intersection of the mortgage and fintech spheres, advising on issues involving product structure, strategy and capital markets.

Taconic Advisory Services was founded by Charles Schorin, who has extensive finance experience in capital markets, securitization, analytics and model building, private equity and venture investing across a range of assets, including mortgages, consumer assets and aviation finance.

Charles founded and had primary responsibility for the mortgage backed securities trading business at the Elliott Management Corporation, a hedge fund with approximately $50 billion under management, for 15 years. Prior to joining Elliott in 2005, he worked at Morgan Stanley for 10 years, where he was a Managing Director responsible for research on all collateralized securities worldwide, including residential and commercial mortgage backed securities, collateralized debt obligations and other assets. Earlier in his career, he worked at other firms, developing econometric prepayment and option pricing models to value mortgage backed securities, and prior to that, was on the staff of the Council of Economic Advisers in the Executive Office of the President of the United States.

Charles earned his bachelor of science degree summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and his doctor of philosophy degree in economics at Princeton University, where he was awarded fellowships by Princeton University, the International Finance Section of the Department of Economics at Princeton and the Lloyd Foundation. He has been a member of the advisory board of the Bendheim Center for Finance at Princeton for the past several years.
